We were extremely lucky to have World War II veteran Arthur Atkinson, wireless operator onboard the Lancaster Bomber that flew from RAF Skellingthorpe, visited us at Birchwood Junior School, Lincoln. He told us some fascinating stories about his life at RAF Skellinghthorpe and what it was like onboard an Avro Lancaster.
We caught up with veteran Mike Connock, who also part of the 50/61 squadrons association, at the International Bomber Command Centre, Lincoln.

This interview with World War II veteran Arthur Atkinson, wireless operator onboard the Lancaster Bomber that flew from RAF Skellingthorpe, took place at the International Bomber Command Centre, Lincoln and was part of the Black Swan Heritage project. The interview was conducted by pupils from Birchwood Junior School Lincoln.
The Cygnets and the entire Year 4 group were invited to the International Bomber Command Centre, Lincoln. It was an amazing day and also really made us think about those that fought for our country.
